Default RE: Why do you hunt?

I hunt because it's a cheap hobby.I mean, what other hobby can you spend $4-800 on a tool to use, $100-$300 on a platform to stand on, $100 on carbon arrows to lose in the woods, $30 on broadheads to lose with the arrows, $100 on a harness so you don't kill yourself, $100 or so on footwear, another $100 or so on a jacket, another $100 or more on pants; and this is just for warm weather....I'm not getting into windy, rainy or cold conditions, they all need separate suits also. Then a couple hundred for the butchering of a couple animals that you lucked out on and actually took home in the $22,000 truck you just bought. You simply can't get that cheap of a steak anywhere else...........and I tried sitting next to those yellow signs along the highways, it didn't work.......I never got to shoot my $100 arrows, and the meat was always old..............So in a nutshell, that's why I hunt....

Oh yea, I love the woods too. I love the sunrise, sunset, the chilly breezes, chattering teeth, the snow hitting me in the eyes, even the rain, does nursing fawns, bucks sparring, hoofprints in the leaves, buck grunts in the thickets, nervous/excited shivering and shakes, the sound of a bowstring twanging, the sight of my arrow zinging through the air, and grabbing that antler and dragging what's it attached toright to the truck. You can keep your football games guys, I'm going out in the woods!
