White tail Patterns???
I have a question regarding White Tail patterns.
I was driving through my hunting grounds this last weekend, not planning to hunt. There is a service drive that leads to a garage where the land owners house equipment (tractors, trucks, etc.) The road that leads there makes a 180 degree bend around a stand of trees. Other than the garage and trees, the, the area is surrounded by tall grass prarie.
The Garage is north of the trees. I was comming back from the Garage and as I was on the south side of the trees, I saw a nice buck (8-10 points) approaching from the south. I stopped the car. He noticed me as he was just about to cross the road. He stared at me for a few minutes (I has the bow in the back seat and started to take it out of the case).
I wasnt sure what he was going to do, so I just stood still and let him make the move (He HAD me.) So he decided to run accross the street and into the trees. He kept an eye on me from there. Then started sniffing around on the ground and continued about his bussiness.
I thought about getting out of the car, but I knew he would bolt if he saw the door open. So I just let him go. I figured it would be fruitless to stalk after him in the woods since the wind was blowing strong and to the north (right at him)
So I figure I will get him another day..........
Which brings me to my question..... Should I hunt those trees? Will he be back there? About the same time of day?
I never hunted this area (however, I am allowed to) because I figured it was too close to the road. He crossed the road at about noon. I am going back there on Thursday, do I figure I would either set up in the morning in those trees, or hunt one of my other well known areas and head back there at about 10:00 am.
Will deer patern their areas about the same time every day?
