Well fellas, I got us on the board. Bigger than last year's deer, but no big
deer. I decided to take him this morning based on fear of not having much time
in the woods coming up as I will be traveling for business the rest of November
and most of December. It's tough to count on a monster buck or any buck for that
matter in late December. So, check out the score board, not big, but we're in.
The hunt itself was really sweet. A typical 40 degree November MI day in the
hardwoods. At 8:45 here comes a deer. At the time I had just dropped my call,
which landed on a branch at the base of my stand. I was bending over to pick it
up when I heard him walking in. I'm thinking I'm busted for sure. I managed to
get my call put away just in time to get my bow in position. As he milled around
in range quartering away in a shooting lane, I sunk an arrow through both lungs
and split open the top of the heart. He went 50 yards and piled up. Nothing
better than seeing you deer drop and die in site. Oh yeah, one more thing better
than that I suppose - he oddly ran
toward the truck.

He was hanging
in my garage by 9:30.
