Hey guys and gals, got a buck lastnight. A nice should have been 8 pointer but busted one time off. Dressed out at around 190lbs. I shot him just a little after 5 lastnight after I rattled him in. Gave me a perfect broadside side shot. Arrow sailed right through him. Here's the weird part. He didnt run off, he slowly trotted. Didnt even give me much blood to work with. I knew he was down and knew the general direction where I heard the last crash. He went down 3 times. After losing his blood trail I was starting to worry a bit. But I told myself, I know where he went down and walked in that direction. Walked right to him. Then i wanted to see where I lost the blood trail at. At the last blood he must have taken a spill and rolled the leaves while thrashing around and got up and made a90 deg leap. then turned again and headed back to the north. I follwed the blood trail back to where we found the last blood. All in all it was a great hunt. Make sure you listen after the shot and watch the deer for as long as you can. I knew he was a dead buck whenI heard he couldnt breath. He was loosing too much air. I got him a little higher than I had wanted but still took out one lung. Will post pictures this weekend or next week. Im done bow hunting for the year. My tags are filled. Now one more week till the gun season opener. WOOOHOOOOO!!
