Default RE: Any good hunting videos?

The problem with hunting videos is where they hunt deer. When was the last time you were on a very controlled ranch? I am gonna guess 85-90% of hunters hunt private land that is not controlled like these game ranches. Most of us out there are out busting our butts, hanging our own stands, and trying to find our own deer. Not like most of these videos where guys show up, ask the owner where the big bucks has been, which ones he can shoot and where the stands are.

The deer I take, I watch, scout and learn their movements and then play the big game of chess trying to figure out how to get a shot on them.

Drury Outdoors, HS Specialites, Knight and Hale, Primos, all these guys are on very controlled ranches. In my mind thats cheating and they should not act so surprised when they shoot monster after monster after monster.

And Realtree---------------The WORST! Yes South Texas and Milk River. I hate those shows. I have hated them from the beginning. Jackie Bushman with Buckmasters is right there withthem.

With that said, Dream Season and HS Specialites are some of the best produced shows. Primos is ok. This years Knight and Hale was the worst I have ever seen. Those two old farts need to retire and let some young blood come in. Red Head (Bass Pro's Show) is bad too. Too many fake camera angles and fake shots and absolutley no emotion.

Primetimes 9 does have a hunt on it that was absolutley awesome. It was on the second disc first hunt. It was not by a prostaffer but rather a regular hunter who probably had some minor affiliation with HS Specialites. It was on a private farm and these boys are just like you and me. The 10.00 video is worth the buy to watch that hunt alone. The rest of the hunts are guys at game ranches.

The worst thing about all this is these showsshowing people taking deer like this really hurts our sport and heritage. Deer hunting is not about the thrill of the hunt and bringing home the harvest, its about capitalizing on the almighty dollar and which product you are going to use. I have seen some hunts where I know theyadd in grunt sounds with whateve grunt tube they sell. Because if you grunt 20 to 30x with a deer looking in your direction, he is gone. Gimme a break!Thething is they think were all stupid and believe in this crap!

One series of videos not produced anymore because of bankruptcy was by Lohman with Brad Harris. Good videos, real hunters on private land. Some food plots but mainly guys hunting their own farms. I have about 4 or 5 and watch them yearly. Good stuff.

Good Luck!
