I like that idea, somewhat more random than what I do.

I have 4 pieces of foam that I have at various spots on the ground. I put cut pieces of hanger wire to angle them away from the ground a little bit. This seems to work ok, doesn't penetrate the ground. I just move them around when I get down to get my arrows.
