Default RE: deer feeding banned in ny what about you??

You guys haven't a clue...This thread is always good for a little spirited debate so here it is.

Most hunters in Texas use some type of feeder to supliment the deer over the winter and many feed protein pellots and corn throughout the year to encourage strong antler developement and to maintain general health of the herd.

Now yes we do also hunt around these areas "sometimes" but you will seldom find a mature buck around one in daylight. The conditions here are just different. One problem we have here in Texas is most of the ranches are more like woodlots in that there is seldom well defined bedding areas and the food sources are ususally distributed over the entire pasture. What these feeding areas do is provide a starting point in your scouting from which you can backtrack, read sign, basicly find ambush points just like you guys do. My point is we are not unethical slobs or lazy hunters like you would have others believe. We are the same, ethical, woodsmen as you just under different conditions.

It is not like you think, the deer won't eat out of your hand. Far from it. We are no less hunters than youselves...

Good Luck All....Fletch
