The milspec is a really nice gun. I ended up going to a Loaded model because I like the ambi safety, beavertail grip and better sights after considering the cost of upgrading the milspec to those standards. I still might end up buying a milspec in the future too.

For a plane jane 1911a1, the Springy Milspec is tough to beat. Charles Daly and Rock Island have similar models for about the same price or cheaper, but their quality is nowhere near as good and my stance on Charles Daly's where I won't touch them with a ten foot pole stands.

For a really nice 1911a1 that's better finished than the milspec and arguably better made, check out the Colt 1991a1- though it will cost double of the milspec.
