I read recently that if you shoot through both lungs on a deer that it wouldn't/shouldn't get out of your site before going down. Assuming that you can see the deer for the next 75 to 100 yards I think that is probably a fair statement. Congrats on your first deer and I hope they all go down within site...but don't count on it! Be prepared for some tough tracking jobs if you stay with it long enough and to me, successfully tracking and recovering the animals is a big part of the challenge.
