I tell my customers to use preventive maintenance...feather dusting it often, NO treatments or anything on the hair or antlers. Thats my opinion. Alex mentioned a good product, which he will tell you is best after the mount already is cruddy. Its a shame for mounts to get neglected as they dont always respond to treatment.
