Didn't get your over size Tyke, but wouldn't a 7mm magkick a bit. Friend of mine (he's 33), only shoots his 7mm a few times before he complains about his shoulder. Personally I use a Rem 700 in a bolt with scope, and 180 gr. PSP. Backup is a Marlin 336 (30-30)with open sights (150 gr.). Taken deerout to 100 yds with each easy. I hunt mostly in hardwoods, with rolling to steep terrian. However, you need to know your limitations as to make a humane kill. 30-06 and 30-30s are available everywhere, so is the ammo.I agree with DANTHEHUNTER, nothing wrong with a 30-30 to start with.
