Default RE: Colorado pheasant hunting

Pheasant hunting can be good here (good is a relative term). The walk in areas get pounded pretty hard, but for most of us that's all we have. I would suggest scouting them out. Once you find a good area, it can be good all year. Mid week can be a good time to go as most hunters are out on the weekends. For the most part, after Thanksgiving holiday you have a lot less hunters and the walk in areas get a rest. A lot of the fields are huge, don't over look the back corners, a lot of guys will walk the areas close to the road and back portions aren't hunted as much. Getting permission to hunt private land is always an option. Some peolple save the land for family and friends opening weekend or over Thnkasgiving and after that your chances get better. As always you will have peolpe say no, they have their reasons, but eventually you get onto some land. I know a lot of guys won't hunt Colorado anymore. Kansas and Nebraska aren't much further than the good Colorado areas and there area lot more birds. Good luck.
