I've been using factory core-locks since I've started hunting. As have my dad, 4 uncles, 3 cousins, and 3 family friends (all but 2 have been hunting 15 years more than I have). I've never had a problem with them expanding or not producting exit holes and none of them have either since I stared hunting with them. That's all they've used their whole lives, there's obviousley a reason for that. We hunt in WV so the same size deer as you roughly, most of our shots are within a hundred yards (with more than a handful of does taken in fields out to 200). Also we use 6 06's, 1 .270, a 30-30, and a .308, a .243, and a 7mm mag. Just the facts....use them how you wish
