I tape mine as well. Use that bright green stuff they make for paint masking. It serves to tell me the gun is loaded, just in case I forgot. And back in September, it kept sandy soil from getting into the muzzle on a long "hand and knees" stalk through the sagebrush. Don't leave home without it.
