Default RE: How far can a deer go with a lung shot?

My buddy shot a buck thru one lung a few years back that we end up tracking that nite for about 200 yards then gave up to wait for daylight in the morning. In the morning we picked up the trail (buddy left his bow in the truck thinking deer would be dead). Turns out we end up tracking the deer across a gravel road, thru a huge cattail slough that was dry and found him laying next to a stockdamn almost 1.5 miles from where he shot the buck. He was still fully alive, but drained (lost lots of blood). I shot him at 15 yards for my buddy to put him down, he got to his feet, ran straight into the stockdam, and started to sink. We both hopped in the dam, and pulled him out. Was definately an interesting experience.
