I tell ya, I'm done with the scents out there on the market. I'm convinced they do more harm than good. Every season for the past 7 or 8 years, I'm consistently used them during the last weeks of the season, when I knew the bucks were getting fired up, only to have them ruin my hopes for a hunt. I have been more or less testing them, for my own personal knowledge the past few years, and I can conclude, at least for myself, it has cost me more bucks than it has helped me tag.
Last nite was agood example. I hung a scent bomb in a scrape, just a couple drop of that BF-Pre Rut stuff, and it sent two bucks heading for the hills. One was a nice 7, and the other was a great looking 8. Just watching their body language, I could tell they didn't want any part of the scrape, and I could tell they didn't wind me. It just seems no matter what brand I try, how I present it, or what deer comes in contact with it, they end up skirting my position. Last nites result happens to me at least 3 or 4 times a season when I scent out, the other times I just don't see any deer. If I run a clean set up, I have no problems with deer avoiding me. If I use scent, I'm left scratching me head. So tonite, my fanny pack is going in the wash, and all my scent junk is going in the trash. I'm going clean from now on.
