RE: 14 year old hunter killed in Ohio
Wow - I can't stop thinking about my 12 year old son now that I've read this post. What is truly unfortunate is that we are "preaching to the choir" so to speak. None of us would do something like that. Why? Because we are conscientious hunters. We discuss, and hopefully follow, identifying our target and once it has been determined that it is "shootable" game we make every effort to make a clean kill. How many posts have we read where someone feels terrible that they lost a deer because of a bad hit? We all feel that we have not paid that animal its proper respect with a bad shot.
We use this forum in order to educate ourselves, socialize with fellow bowhunters, etc. Maybe - just maybe - what we need to do is get the word out about this forum. Everyone that uses a bow or a gun in the name of hunting should read, use, and enjoy this forum. If everyone used this forum as it was intended to be used, tragedies such as this would never - ever happen.
Education equates to safety. Ok - I'm officially off of my soapbox.
