Default RE: Baiting

Alot of guys around here use it(bait/corn) to draw deer from other more productive farms. We use corn to draw deer thru our farm and keep them moving thru. We keep corn spread out in a long string vs a pile and as far from any stand as possible. A Big Pile of corn a few yards from stand will get you ZIP - maybe 1-2 young deer.I have set up trail cam this yr on 3 seperate stands so far, and have seen increase in deer movement and bucks thru farm. We have no bean/corn crops and owner has very small food plots that are cut back every Sept. Our neighbors have either corn or soy beans. Due to recent heavy rains the beans will be lucky to get cut by December. The deer just lay down in beans during day and hardly move to adjacent areas(farms).Long story short - IF your going to bait, its just not a matter of throwing some corn out and waiting. Best thing to do is plant a small food plot(if possible)We have a spot that owner will allow us to plant food plot. Thats the plan next spring. Then you can forget baiting. Let the food plot do the work.
