This could ONLY happen to ME!!
I've been hunting now for four years, only with a bow. Due to certain health limitations, I have difficulty getting out as the weather gets colder and I have never been able to hunt the rut. Subsequently, I have never even SEEN a buck during hunting season as the area I hunt is public land that is extremely pressured for the deer. This year though, I'm trying some new medication that seems to be working so far and I have made it my goal to get my first buck this year.
I felt really good about today and took it off since the pre-rut is happening here in eastern PA. I've been hunting a little honey-hole that no one else is and have seen a lot of deer, but all just out of my range. Today, I didn't see anything and since we've had so much rain, I decided to get out while I still had daylight since I have to cross a creek that is now more than just a creek. So I pack up, lower my bow, and just as I lean over my seat to start dropping my climber, right in front of me is a huge, wide 8 pointer that looks to be 250lbs. I could not believe it. I looked down at my bow on the ground as he walked so close to my tree that he almost stepped on the quiver. Then.....I cried!
