Many thanks to all for your honest advise. Appreciate your responses and all were well taken. I ordered a Burris Fullfield-II 3x9x40 today. I will deal with the mounting situation when I get the scope. I don't think that will be a problem since I have many good gun shops in the area.

And to "cayagad', you are correct, no need for see-through rings.My only thought was generated by a very haunting experience I had some years ago.Had see-through sights on a rifle butattempted to use my scopeon a monster buck in the heavy woods.Seriously the biggest I have ever seen. Too close and should have used the iron sights which resulted in the miss of a lifetime plus a gun jam to boot. The rest is history and so was the buck! So that past thought reared it's ugly head again whenI started looking for a scope on my ML. Hey life sucks sometimes.....just as long as you don't let it suck you up with it.
