I also had a deer last year that had 4 healthy points on one side, and a straight antler on the other. Our general rule of thumb on the property that I hunt that if the buck isn't a wall hanger, we should let it go. It's my buds property, so he sets the rules, and I follow them.
I told him about the deer. Same questions...was it an accident, or genetics? We decided that if we see it next year, it is no accident, and we will take him out.
