If you looked that well, and didn't find him, he's not dead. Will he come back? Maybe. I am in a similar situation here, I shot low and grazed a buck's brisket. Little bit of blood at impact, then none. Followed the tracks for half mile, no deer. He's still out there. So, I'm just going to give it a few days off, and then try to go back. The other deer should forget about it, if you give the spot some time to rest. Good luck!
