Wounded deer
Shot a beutiful 8 point from 15 yrds at 8am yesterday morning. Misjudged distance and used 25 yrd pin. Hit high, just below the spine, maybe a little lower. Heard deer gruint loudly as it crashed through a stream in effort to get away. Arrow came out and fell in water. Broadhead was a mechanical and there was a little blood and some "grease or fat" in the blades. The arrow was bent at about 15 degrees about 4 inches up from teh broadhead. Deer took off like a bat out of hell and did not appear hurt. Deep dense cover (about 50 acres) searched the best I could, to no avail. Went back today, still no luck.
2 questions, one, Will the deer come back to this area if not dead? It is a small trek of land approx. 50 acres surrounded by a freeway and roads and adjacent to 2 other 50 acre treks.
Question 2. The spot is great, deer tracks everywhere, food, stream..just perfect. Are there other bucks in the area? Did I spook them by crashing around looking for the 8 point? How long until I should hunt there again.
Thanks and YES< I AM MISERABLE. I shot a 150 class 9 point within a 1/4 mile there last year.
