found a nice one today

got a call about 10:30 this morning from a young fellow that had shot his first buck with the bow he is 15 or 16.has taken two with gun, but no bow kills..I took my old dog,he is 14 or 15 years old and didn't even want to smell the deer I shot

. so I took him anyway.
they said it was a bad hit , thruogh the liver ?? maybe.didn't really know.
I got there and they had left the arrow alone for me to look at and see what I though. it was good blood,I though liver also.went with the dog and he smelled the arrow real good. we looked and no blood trail at all, NONE.the old dog walked along and smelled a little.
we went about 100 yards and no blood.I was trailing by running tracks through the oak hammock.after following the dog abnother 100 yards and no blood I lost the tracks. then the thumper (the dog) made a sound like he wanted to bark and didnt know how. then again and agin. then be barked,I knew he was on it.
so I followed him and looked ahead,about 100 yards or so I saw white. so I just follow thumper and knew he was on the deer. then he was at the deer. I hollered and told the kid to come get his deer. him and his dad was jumpping abd holloring and huggins.
he said it was a small 4pt. but it turned into a nice 7 pt. about 12 to 13" inside 120 to 125 lbs.

so I guess thumper will trail one more maybe, if someone needs him. a friend was with us and his brother ; who gave me thumper said he has several more dogs that I could have if I could get lt Lousiana to get them.

they run rabbits and has nothing to do with a dog if it runs deer.
