I would take the shots at 40 I think you would be surprised on how well it would kill them. I believe this is the age old question on light arrows vs heavier arrows. The light ones will shoot faster but the heavy will carry alot of weight wich will also help penetration. I am not saying you will get a pass through but no one said you need a pass threw to kill a deer. I think it would be fine.
