The gospel rule of responsible firearm ownership is to never store a loaded weapon.

MAKE THE WEAPON SAFE (Dischage it / empty it - whatever). Cleaning is up to you. I store mine dirty for upcoming hunts.

If your weapon is clear so is your conscience.
