If he is hunting whitetail deer, go with a barnes TSX or a nosler accubond bullet in about 130 grains, the 270 has the best ballistics with 130 grain bullets. Round nose bullets dont fly through the air as well as the spire or poly tip bullets. As well, a boat tail construction is preferable. EJ
