RE: I hit one but Have to recover tonight
Go to Gander Mtn, and spend 25 bucks on the archer's gloves. I bought them just before opener, and I absolutely love them. They are designed with the opening for a release attached to the wrist. And the palm side of the glove is made for archery.
I won't say you need practice, because I've had a day or two like that in my hunting years. I remember missing the same doe twice, once on a deflection from a branch, and one where I flat out under shot her. I was close enough to take white hair off her belly, but not cut into her. People can practice all they want, even in the hunting simulation, but the bottom line is, you'll havea day or two where everything seems to go against you. You find it recurring, then I'd be at the range for sure.
It can't hurt to practice, or check for equipment malfunction though.
