Wow, thanks for the warm welcome into the bowhunters fraternity.

No ones asked for the story but I'm dying to tell it so here it is:

Sitting in my stand (a pallet on 2x4s between 2 trees) in a hedgerow between a harvested soybean field and an unused meadow, I looked over my shoulder to see two deer feeding my way. They were half way thru the field before I realized they were both bucks (passed on lots of does because no tag) and thats when I started shaking. I had lots of time to gain control of myself and simply watched, didn't bother grunting or rattling because they were coming my way regardless. At 45yrds I could have taken a shot at either but held off, I'm not that confident with my bow! They reached the hedgerow that my stand was in and I prayed that they would head my way, one crossed thru and the other answered my prayers. He stopped 10yrds from the bottom of my stand, I thought my 20yrd pin would be fine but the arrow went right over his back! He ran 30ft then turned and came back 10ft to figure out what had happened, this time my 20yrd pin was perfect. He humped up and barely made it out of my sight, when I climbed down from my stand there he was, a nice clean kill not 40yrds from where I shot him.
Wish I could say that my 1st shot was perfect but I'm pretty happy; no bait, clean kill, and a decent buck.
