Go west, young man...lol
First and closest to you is Woodmont...just west of Hancock... just when you start up Sideling Hill. Parts are public and parts are reserved for members of the Isaac Walton group...2400 acres in that one.Very light pressure during bow season. For additional info call 301-842-2155.
Right next door to that you have Sideling Hill WMA. All public and very very light pressure during the bow season. Kinda rugged county but well worth the hike in if you want to hunt away from anyone. 3100 acres in that one.

Also in Washington County, you have Indian Springs WMA but it is hammered so hard every year during gun, it is a hit or miss proposistion. 6750 acres in that one.

If you wish to go a bit further west to Garrett County... Potomac and Savage state forests are great areas to hunt... so much public alnd that if you are willing to hike a bit, you can be in a world of your own, even during gun season. If you want more info on either of these areas just let me know.
I grew up in Washington County and resided for several years in Garrett County so I know the areas very very well.
