Today's Hunt
Well i got into my stand around 3:30, about 3 hrs b4 dark. When i first walked into the woods i had to just stop and admire the fantastic fall colors. The maples were all different shades from bright red to yellow, it was amazing. Neways not much action other than the same darn tree rat runnin around behind my stand makin a whole buncha noise. Then about 6:15 i hear the squirrel makin some more noise, except this time it magically transformed into a yearling deer! i was kind of surprised and dissappointed w/ myself that i didnt get ready (stand up, get bow from hanger) if that had beena big buck i might have missed my opportunity. i passed on the yearling for a couple of reasons; 1 it was a small deer 2 i thought there would be a bigger one behind it (no such luck) 3 it was gettin dark and i didnt feel comfortable tracking my first bow kill in the dark by myself. The deer grazed through my food plot for about 5 min, then walked out on the same trail i walked in on. after it had left and i decided there werent ne more coming behind it i stood up and drew my bow back just to get the feel of it, but as i drew it back, the arrow sliding on my arrow rest made a loud whhshshhhhhhh sound. i guess my bow has always done this i just didnt realize it until now it was loud enough that i think it would spook a deer that i would be drawing back on. Do any of you have this problem? I was thinking of putting some moleskin on the prongs of my rest, but im worried it might affect my arrow flight. Sry the story was so long im just happy to finally see a deer during legal shooting hrs and w/in range. Good luck to all on the rest of the season!
