Are you sure you're not thinking about a Hoyt Viper? They were very fast bows with low brace height. The Darton Viper is 43" ata with a 7" brace. The magnesium High Energy Wheels did store decent energy for a "soft" cam. They were rated at 230 AMO and (I think) 295-300 IBO. Again, pretty fast for a smooth drawing older bow, but mine (same specs as elmer deer's except mine was 63#) did 255 with a 415 gr. arrow. It was actually a little faster than my Pro 40 Wheely (also 62#, 29")with heavier (500 gr.) arrows, but with arrows under 400 grains, it couldn't quite keep up, maybe due to the steel cables and other axle draw length adjusters, etc.
