Haven't had a problem with mine. Just remember to loosen the locking screws on the side. I bet I have adjusted mine 30 times or so since I've had it dinking with different things. I've even had the bolts out once to install the NV system.

Just be careful to use a good allen wrench with the proper fit so you don't ruin the heads on the bolts.

Yours my have a problem with being crossthreaded or something. That sucks if your closest shop is that far away.
