Default RE: my new toy

I wish youguys would post your locations in your personal data. If you are near a source of Black Mag'3 powder you might want to try it in the Omega. Mine and several others that have Omega rifles find it works just great especially in the long barrel. I did not have good results with 777 in my stainless Omega. Youmay find it is difficult to load sabots for a while. I believe that the stainless especially is slightly rougher in the bore than blued barrels (due to the natural machining characteristics of stainless). I finally did a JB bore paste light polishing of mine which improved it quite a bit. Or you can shoot a lot of conicals and PRB to smooth it out. I found Pyrodex shot very well also if you can put up with the heavier fouling. I have never shot real black and must try that someday. APP and Goex Pinnacle are also good ones to try in the ascorbic acid based powder group which is the "clean guys".By the way APP, Pinnacel, and BM3 are all ascorbic acid based and non corrosive to steel but will etch brass if left too long. I still use a good cleaning regiment but if caught (like in hunting camp) a couple of days before complete cleaning will not ruin your barrel. Tripple Seven is not Non-corrosive and must be cleaned soon after firing. I shoot 300gr. or heavier bullets as I only hunt elk. I believe some have good results with lighter bullets in the Omega. Powerbelts shoot good as long as you do not push them too hard.
