What a day! Yesterday I climbed up in my stand at about 4:30, while I was hooking my safety belt up, I saw a deer coming up the trail I walked up. So I quickly attached my safety belt, and look at the deer. SHE was now at 20 yards, and I haden't even pulled my bow up yet. The deer got behind some trees and I pulled up my bow. As soon as I grabbed a hold of my bow the deer stepped out into the clearing. I quickly nocked an arrow and stood up and drawed my bow. I thought that the deer was a nice young doe, and since the freezer was empty, I took the shot. I made a perfect double lung shot, and I don't think SHE knew what happened. Just turned around walked a few steps and turned back around and looked at me. I was trying to get another arrow out of my quiver, but SHE saw me and went into the woods. Not 30 seconds after this happened, it started pouring rain! Great, now their is no blood trail! I got on the 2-way and told dad I just shot a doe, and hit her perfect. He said ok lets go ahead and give her an hour, she will be only 50 yards in the woods. For the next hour it poured rain. An hour passed and dad met me at my stand. I got down and found my arrow, a complete pass through and about 4 inches of earth. I was nervous because the rain had washed the blood away. We walked into the woods and within about 5 minutes of searching we found my deer about 25 yards from my stand. Walked up to it and it was a button buck, I sure didn't think it was a button buck! Oh well its a nice deer and it sure will taste good! I will never forget the day I was in my stand for 30 seconds before I shot a deer! LOL BTW the shot looks a little high but he was only 10 yards and it went out perfect behind the shoulder.
