I assume we are talking about surviving in a wilderness type of situation and not against someone trying to kill you.

Mine would be a bolt action .22 WMR. I could pack almost as much ammo as I could LR but the added velocity and jacketed bullets would be a better choice to have for larger animals should I need it.
