Default RE: smoking in the tree stand?

Nobody can tell me that a deer knows the difference between cigg. smoke and smoke from someonesnearby chimney.
Really! Well here goes. Cigarettes have a distinctive smell. Smoke from a chimney has a distinctive smell and is much thicker because the hot gases produced from a fire are much heavier. When a deer lives near homes that burn wood, coal, oil etc.. they get accustomed to the that smell coming from certain locations almost constantly during the heating season. Now when a deer is cruising the woods and gets a faint whiff of cigarette smoke he knows that this is not the familiar smell from a chimney. Instead, he instinctively heads in the direction of safety.

What you are saying is that smoke is smoke and you cant tell the difference. Well I hate to tell you but that is BS when it comes to deer knowing the difference. A deers sense of smell is so much greater that ours I would bet he could tell the difference between anoaklog and a hickory log just by the smell of the smoke from it burning. Ever walk into a room and about gag after someone has been smoking a cigar? Ever go home after a night on the town and your wife notices a perfume smell that isn't her brand?

Bottom line is that deer can smell cigarette smoke and get alarmed if it is downwind from you. If you are asmoker and smoke on stand then stop living in a fairy tale world and believing that deer can smell every thing 1000 times better than man but somehow ignore your cigarette smoke.
