I don't think there's such a thing as an easy bird to kill. I hunt the same public land in MD that you do, and yes, it does get alot of pressure and yes the birds do wise up quickly, but there still are birds in there that will come in to a set quickly early in the season. I've found that patterning other hunters is as vital as patterning the birds in there and laying down some boot leather will definately help. You kill consistantly in there, and that definately speaks volumes for your abilities. But at the same time, I can't ever remember killing a bird and thinking "Man, that was easy." That includes private land birds. One thing we should all keep in mind is that the only person who should judge how good a hunter a certain person is, is that person. If someone can walk out of the turkey woods with or without a turkey, and have a story to tell and a smile on their face, then they've just won at the game and no one should judge them regardless of what they did or did not kill, where they hunted or how they hunted. If a person legally and ethically hunts and enjoys themselves, then they are ok in my book.
