AGAIN!!!!!!
I give up with this land....... Great piece of property with a lot of nice bucks, but we have the most bizzare farmer working the fields.
Maybe someone could at least shed some light on the reasoning behind this guy. He is leasing the land to farm from the landowner (same guy we have permission to hunt). He very seldom plants anything in the spring. Every4-5 years he'll plant soybeans, alfalfa, or corn . The rest of the time he'll let it grow into overgrown swail throughout the summer.
Beginingof September rolls around and he has his crew come and chop the swail lots to the ground. Then he comes back the last week ofSeptember and cuts the 6 inches ofweeds thathave grownsince then.
First week of October(now.... and 12 days before bowseason) he comes in and starts rough plowing the fields turning them over. He plows them 3 different times untill he gets his"finish grade". This usually takes him well into bowseason because he's in and outall the time with a few hours here and there.
The finished product after he ripped the place to heck is a big giant mud pasture instead of a nice giant bedding area. The deer that once used the swail as bedding are not around anymore.Their entire patterns change. All the scouting and stand locations throughout the entire year are absolutely useless.
Ihave nothing against farmers doing whatthey have to do. It's theirliving and takes precident over deer hunting. But, what in the name of God is this guy doing????Whypay for the labor, burn gas for hours, , lease the land from the landowner, and wear on the equipment??
Every season all he does is plow everything for 2 weeks in the fall, don't plant any crop in the spring, let it all grow up to overgrown crap, cut the overgrown crap 3 -4 times a year and plow it all up again the following fall. And not plant again the next spring. I just don't get it.Why do all that to mow and plow?
Sorry had to vent.... just irritated again. Time for plan B.
