The buck on the left in this picture is a different deer that the guy holding the head shot around 7:30am. He made a very poor shot on this deer (about 7 inches below the spine just behind the rib cage)but we made the correct decision in letting him go. I insisted that we wait at least 10 hours before attempting to find him. I also told them that he was going to water. The property that we hunt has a decent size river running through it. So after 10 hours, we began the search, one person on each side of the river walking upwind. My buddy spotted him on my side of the river just up ahead. He was still alive bedded down, so we backed out. Trey and I put on our leafy wear and began the stock. At fifteen yards he put another arrow in the lungs and that was that.
