I just grab a chunk of belly hair with my teeth and RIP it open. No need for gloves or even a knife for that matter.Really though I don't use 'em but I believe some people do for fear of infection CWD and all. Luckily for me CWD hasn't been documented in my part of NC. I believe I did read about a case of it in the western part of the state though
