I've seen bulls hot and bothered as early as the first week of Sept, like the bull I shot this year, and I've seen them all worked up at the end of the month as well. I wouldn't doubt that the rut is in full swing right now, and you could have a great chance calling one in with some cow calls, and maybe some bull grunts and thrashing of trees. We've called in bulls accidentally while sawing limbs off a tree while putting up a stand, and blowing our nose into a hankerchief got a bull all worked up several years ago. It can't hurt to try!
