Default Fall turkey hunting

Hey all,

I'm still pretty new here, so sorry if I'm asking a question that's already been asked a million times.

Vermont just opened up a fall turkey season in my WMU and I figure I'll give it a shot. I've never hunted turkey at all before, but I've read quite a bit on spring/breeding season hunting. I have not heard that much about fall methods. What kind of call do I want to use? I'm assuming that a mating call wouldn't work.

The fall season allows one bird of either sex, and I'm not going to be that particular for my first bird. Meat in the freezer is always the primary goal of all my hunts.

Can anyone offer some advice?
