I agree with masterdriver. It sounds like most of the replies are from people with considerable hunting experience. Like everything else, the more you do something, the more you just know and literally forget that you know and assume everyone else knows.

Go with him on some hunts or take him with you.

My friends and I all team hunt. One is hunting and the other films. It gives us an extra set of eyes if one wants to nap and when we are with a newbie, we can educate. How great for a guy that gets his first big buck to have it on film and and to have had a friend with him.

I got to see one of my best friends shoot his first deer with a bow two weekends ago and I was as excited as he was!
