yea it should be, the licking stick is usually a bare stick near the scrape that a deer will lick, over hanging branches above the scrape is where a deer will rub his head they have glands on thier head somewhere and they leave a scent on those branches.
I just put scent anywhere up there, don't know if makes any differance or not.
if there aren't any deer in the area don't expect a mock scrape to drag them into the area cause it probabely won't.
if there are some deer in the area they will usually hit the mock scrape at night for awhile, then after a few real deer have been there you might see some daytime activity. oh and as noted in the above post mostly young deer..
