It would work if....
-you check your state laws on magazine limits, many states have a limit of 5 rounds, though the state I live in doesn't ahve a limit.
-Get lots of practice with the rifle and find your effective hunting range with it. I'm guessing that if you get some practice, it will work for you to 50 yards, with lots of practice, you can be effective with it out to 100 yards. By effective range, I mean being able to keep allof your shots in an 8" circle (a paper plate would do) no matter how you are positioned. Being able to hit the target everytime 100 yards out from a benchrest will do you no good if you have to shoot a deer at 1/2 that distance standing up.
-Use only softpoint ammunition. FMJ and hollowpoint 7.62x39 ammo you commonly find on the shelf is not only less effective, but illegal to use in most places.
