RE: Is this a decent deal?
Took possesion this afternoon. Here's what my $400 got me.
A Remington 700 BDL, stainless steel, synthetic stock in 30-06 with a gloss black Burris Fulfield II 3x-9x-40mm scope mounted and sighted in. A rifle case and a Uncle Mikes sling. 7 boxes of Hornady 180 grain Light Magnum, 1 box Federal Premium 180 grain Nosler Partion, 1 box Federal Premium 180 grain Trophy Bonded Bearclaw, and 1/2 box Winchester 180 grain Partition Gold. About 20 targets he had shot to sight in the gun with the different types of cartridges. A few sheets with chrono data for the cartridges. The original boxes for the rifle and scope. And to top it off the original stock pad has been replaced with an Remington R3 pad.
He advised that the Hornady Light Mags were the most accurate, they group just around 1 1/4. She's sighted in for 200 yards and has pretty decent trigger.
So... let's see a completely set up and sighted in stainless, synthetic 30-06 Rem 700 with 7 boxes of the ammo it likes to eat... I'd say that lands a few feet inside of a decent deal. What I really like is just how much time this saved me, no more shopping around and think how much range time and ammo cost I just saved. I'll still try out some other ammo, but just knowing the Hornady Light Magnums shoot the best out of this rifle saves me a lot. I'm happy.
