I used to shoot a selway bolt on when I hunted with my bob lee recurve the first time. Way back when I started, I used a blackwidow back quiver to which I still have to this day, opting even then for no bowquiver.

I also made a GFA style with a great northern longbow quiver 5 years ago shown to me by a hunting partner. Pretty slick deal imho! I now shoot with a Jack Bowyers Chief side stalker quiver. I also hunt from stands on occasion and can take it off just as with a bowquiver however it's NEVER on my bow. I look at it this way. If you are going to use a bow quiver leave it on. What happens when you hike in and see that buck of a lifetime a simple stalk up a hedge row or corn field? are you really going to take it off, no real point imho. The chief and GFA quivers are extremely simple, exremely nice though DO take a bit of getting used to. They are more for guys who like to stalk game then stand hunters but they also work fine for stand hunters. Can be worn with heavy pack on your back and not get in the way also (which is a problem how I hunt, mostly solo wilderness backpack hunts). Personally I dont like bowquivers, not since I switched to shooting longbows. When I went back to shooting that old bob lee this summer, I did so without that old bolt on selway.

Obviously I also have the great northern strap on. It's nice but again I dont like bowquivers. Last but not least I have two backquivers. The old widow style and a latigo leather quiver. I use this second quiver for stumping, small game hunting, 3d shoots or indoor shooting. Having hunted with it in years past I would continue to this day with it....IF.....I could wear it with a backpacking outfit on (pack frame with enough gear to support myself for 10 to 14 days max). Being I cannot do this with a backquiver I've stopped wearing it. Fred did an article on how to use back quiver awhile back and many of the older mags have hard articles talking about how to go through brush with that backquiver. I've personally havent had much of any problems with it other then every now and then filling it full of small sticks/leaves or snow. I HAVE dumped some arrows out of it on one trip snowshoe hair hunting in some really thick stuff. I tried like most to keep the quiver on my back and not under my armpit, my mistake!
