Normally adding a weight to the end of a barrel will help dampen the harmonics and make it more forgiving. It will require you to work up a different load though because of the change.
There is always the chance it will make it worse, but that usually is not the case from what I understand. You just need to find out what it likes again.
I agree with the others though, I wouldn't to it. I don't mind them on shotguns and handguns to reduce muzzle flip, but they are loud. I have heard two high powered rifles with them and it actually hurt to hear them fired the noise was so sharp.
My shotgun was louder than normal, but nothing like that.
