Lock Removal
OK, I tried to remove my flintlock lock to clean the tumbler and sear. It is a Traditions "Shenandoah" (full-stock) rifle.
Well I unscrewed the two screws on the opposite side of the lock (as in the other side of the rifle) and the lock would not come out. I then unscrewed the spring for the frizzen, another screw at the end of the barrel (it protruded between the triggers) and still the lock would not come out/off.
Is there something I am missing here or are locks typically wedged in pretty tight? When I pulled on the pan, it felt like that lock wasn't about to go anywhere. Is there a special method for removing the lock?
So I put all of the screws back. One sticks out of the lock plate just under the hammer. Twistthe screwtoo much and the hammer won't swing properly.
Good thinking there Traditions!
Thanks everyone,
